On August 12, 2020, The JANX Foundation awarded BEAT Global with a $50,000 Award. The JANX Foundation is a family foundation committed to fostering philanthropic giving in the next generation of young adults. This generous contribution, to be disbursed over two years, will fund two research studies into the efficacy of beatboxing as a speech intervention in youth with disabilities such as Down Syndrome.
Our lead researcher is Dr. Michal Icht, who has published one study about the efficacy of beatboxing with speech therapy, and has three additional studies pending publication. Dr. Icht will work closely with BEAT Board Member Dr. Heather Leavy Rusiewicz to complete this research. Please see the Research page of our website for more information about beatboxing research.
